Do you want to be a better father?

The staff at The Fatherhood Project can help you.

“I would be able to change the world, change the course of a boy's life, a family's life, the course of generations of uninvolved fathers. When he was three months, I told my wife to find him another father if anything ever happened to me. Boys need fathers.â€

We can help if you would like someone to talk to. Fathers frequently want some help with their role in the family. We can offer help through personal consultation for advice, understanding what is in the way of your being the father you would like to be, gaining clarity about fathering skills and understanding what your son or daughter needs from you. Being a good father can be challenging and confusing, frustrating and overwhelming. Talking alone or as a couple with a professional who understands the demands of fatherhood can be very useful.

Many questions about how to be a father can be confusing. How strict or permissive should I be? When and how? What is my child really worried about? How can I be helpful to him or her? What should I do when I feel angry at my child? How important is my relationship with my wife to my fathering? If I don’t live with my children, can I still be a good father to them? What skills do I need to be a good father when I don’t live with them? What is most important to think about when discussing child visitation and custody?

Being emotionally engaged with your son or daughter about what they think and care about has been shown to build strong father/child relationships and excellent social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral outcomes in children. Speaking with us at The Fatherhood Project can help you, as a father, change your child's world. Contact Dr. Levy if you would like to talk with an experienced professional.
